City temperatures vs. an independent forecast
Kalshi's daily high-temperature markets next to a Scopes Fair Value built from the NWS forecast (api.weather.gov), deliberately a different source than the venue's settlement, so the fair value is independent. Scopes measures the gap and keeps a public record of which side proved right. Near-settled same-day contracts are held out (the forecast can't beat a nearly-known high).
